SANTA CLARA, Calif. – November 29, 2006 - Macrovision® Corporation today announced the latest version of its AdminStudio packaging solution. The new edition of AdminStudio, version 8.0, includes new testing tools that address customer demand for support of Microsoft Windows Vista™ operating system. It also offers enhanced integration with Macrovision's Workflow Manager solution and a new PackageExpert tool, creating a complete packaging workflow solution that reduces the time and costs associated with complex software packaging processes.

Macrovision is delivering the critical solutions customers demand to address time constraints of packaging managers and ensure successful software deployments. The upgraded software now includes testing tools enhanced by the PackageExpert, which automates testing, validation and problem resolution for MSI deployment to any Microsoft Windows platform.

AdminStudio version 8.0 can help IT professionals repackage, customize, test and install applications faster and more cost effectively. Some of the new features include:
  • Windows Vista Support
    New automated testing and repair tools in AdminStudio 8 include key Windows Vista tests for identifying whether packages conform to Windows Vista guidelines. In addition, Macrovision has included InstallShield 12 in this latest version enabling any part of the MSI installation to be updated according to Windows Vista guidelines.
  • PackageExpert
    PackageExpert is the latest addition to an array of Macrovision testing tools automating the testing validation and test-error resolution for MSI packages deploying to Microsoft Windows platforms. With the inclusion of PackageExpert, the new upgrade takes advantage of functionality in the newest release of the Windows Vista operating system through key Windows Vista tests to ensuring that every package conforms to Windows Vista guidelines.
  • Support for Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Implementation
    The new versions offer a shared application catalogue database between AdminStudio and Workflow Manager offers enhanced visibility into all package and process information via a definitive software library. This allows direct association of package content and preparation steps in AdminStudio with application requests and packaging management process in WorkFlow Manager.
